Update!

semartens

Wow - it's been a hot minute since I've written a blog post.

Time slips by. I will confess that I find it difficult to keep up with the virtual world. I started an Instagram, but there's not much there yet. Hopefully I will get the hang of it soon. I started putting together an author page on Facebook, and one day I might even update it. I find social media pretty overwhelming, to be honest. The only social media type site I update frequently is GoodReads, so feel free to friend or follow me over there, if you're curious about my bookish thoughts.

I do have an exciting announcement - my YA Fantasy novel, BLUE REVOLUTION, is coming verrry soon! I have proof copies on the way and once I give it that final pass, I will finally, FINALLY be able to hit "publish" on the book I have been writing since high school.

Here's the pitch:

Setsi is a shy high school student on Earth.

Set Sefanny is a rebelling princess on Elysion.

They are the same person.

The Goddess of Death stalks Setsi across both worlds - furious that the princess who was supposed to die on Elysion lives again.

When Setsi is drawn back to the world of Elysion, she finds herself torn between competing factions. The young revolutionaries become the first friends she's ever known. Yet the king they fight against is the father she's never stopped grieving.

Which side will she choose?

And can she make her choice before the Death Goddess catches up with her?

It's a book about being young and forming your identity - will you go forth in the world and be a kind person, or a destructive force? It's a book about wrestling with an inner darkness. It's also a fun adventure story, so buckle up!

BLUE REVOLUTION covers a lot of things I'm interested in - it's partly an homage to old-school RPGs and sword and sorcery adventure stories. It's also an examination of the pagan concept of the triple-goddess. It's about personifications of immutable concepts (like death) and how we interact with them, and what that says about us.

I'll be sharing the cover really soon! It's absolutely gorgeous, with artwork by an amazing artist (Merilliza Chan.)

I will also, at some point, be sharing a post about the journey this book has taken and why I eventually decided to go the route of self=publishing. It was not an easy decision, but I'm beyond thrilled that the book will finally be making its way out into the world.

Thank you to everyone who has been cheering me on for so many years, while I have tried and tried to tell my strange story! Thank you to those of you who read earlier drafts and gave me feedback (or just told me you liked it!)

The final version -

It's coming -

SOON!
